Viestura 10A – Time for a Refresh!

31. July, 2025

Back in August 2011, the residents of Viestura Street 10A made an important decision – to renovate their residential building, whose technical condition at the time was, to put it mildly, unattractive. Cracks in the walls, crumbling plaster, rainwater leaking from the roof, and heat simply escaping through gaps. Apartment temperatures were uneven – ranging from cold to overheated flats. It was time to act!

With the support of LIAA under the energy efficiency programme, extensive building renovation works were launched. The works were completed within 10 months, and the results were noticeable – thermal energy consumption decreased by 48%, while the building became warmer, safer, and visually more attractive. Only… not everything turned out as well as originally expected.

Why are repairs needed again?

Although the building renovation was carried out with good intentions, in reality the quality did not always meet expectations. At that time, there was significant pressure to meet project deadlines, and contractors still lacked experience in renovating buildings of this type. As a result, after several years the first problems began to appear on the facade – plaster started crumbling, the facade surface became dirty, and in some places patches appeared with paint tones differing from the rest of the wall. Although energy consumption data shows that the savings have been maintained, overall the building has started to look outdated and no longer creates the same pleasant impression as it did after renovation.

However, this does not mean everything must start from scratch. RENESCO, which signed a 20-year Energy Performance Contract (EPC) with the residents, continues to fulfil its obligations. In July 2025, we began refreshing the building!

What will be done?

The planned works include:

  • cleaning the facade from dirt and dust;
  • repairing damaged plaster;
  • priming the surface;
  • repainting the entire facade;
  • inspection of roof junctions and the drainage system, along with necessary repairs;
  • repair of the plinth plaster.

Our goal is to preserve the building not only as energy efficient, but also visually attractive, so that every apartment owner can feel proud of their property and the overall image of the building.
