Digital solutions helping residents move towards a greener and smarter future

As Europe accelerates the transition towards decarbonisation, housing modernisation has become an essential step in achieving the EU’s climate goals. However, the path towards an energy-efficient housing stock is complex: residents often struggle to identify the most suitable renovation solutions, while professionals face high costs caused by the lack of household-related data.

Project objective:

The goal of the DECODIT project is to address these challenges by developing innovative digital services created with active resident involvement. DECODIT will empower residents to make informed decisions about renovating their homes, making them more energy-efficient and sustainable for the future.

Project activities:

Latvia is one of four countries — together with Greece, Spain, and Switzerland — where the developed prototypes and project solutions will be tested. Each pilot country represents different challenges and opportunities.

Main pilot locations:

  • Latvia: Imanta Garden — focused on integrating energy service companies into the energy transition ecosystem.
  • Greece: Energy cooperatives (CoEn) are exploring regulatory and market incentives to encourage residents’ investments in housing renovation.
  • Spain: The Murcia renewable energy cooperative is piloting energy management and decision-support solutions for communities.
  • Switzerland: ABT Hub Capriasca demonstrates local energy communities consuming self-produced renewable energy.
